It isn’t important what you do, whether or not you are a business person or a student you need to start mastering public speaking. Neither does it make a lot of difference whether or not you are a home work mom or apensioner needing to make a little bit of money to bolster a meager annuity. There’s one underlying skill you have to have. You have got to understand how to sell.

All life is one gigantic marketing program.

There’s always a trade happening. One individual offers something that another person might accept or reject.

Everybody needs to be ableto sell.

Often the selling process is concealed and you don’t recognise it to be that.

Let me give you an example.

The work at home mom makes cookies and fudge which she sells in school thru the tuck shop or cafe. For her this isnot a sell situation. She knows the head teacher because it’s her man, her children go to school there, she’s mates with the faculty receptionist. She pitches up with her basket of wonderful goodies and they are sold for her, no questions asked.

You could think there wasn’t any selling involved. Not so. She should sell the tenet to her husband, the receptionist must like her, the person working the tuck shop or faculty canteen has to agree that cookies aren’t bad for the youngsters. If they donot, with no regard for the hubby being the head teacher the cookies just won’t get sold.

Here’s another example.

Youare a waged employee. You push paper all day. You don’t have to sell. Yes you do. You sell each day. The 1st time you sell is when you sell yourself for the job. Then you sell yourself every day by pushing that paper efficiently. You’re selling yourself to a MD every day to reassure him that you are a worthy member of staff.

Do you come in late to work every morning? You are losing a sale. Yourself as a staff member. Guess on whose desk that pink slip will land.

So each thing you do is a sales situation. You build a good relationship with a coworker, youare selling yourself as a good team member. You are friendly to abuyer although you arenot in the sales dept, maybe you’re the receptionist, youare selling the company to the customer.

What is the one thing that is your biggest asset in selling yourself, your product or service, possibly a new business or simply brand you?

It is having the ability to speak out clearly, enthusiastically, with passion and with regard to your audience. As much as you could think that public speaking is only standing on a stage and delivering a fabulous talk to a bunch of folk, this isn’t where it ends.

Your public speaking skills come in to play each day of your life as you sell yourself to other people. It isn’t important who you are selling yourself to and what for. It could even just be getting your kids to listen to you and clean their rooms.

Having awesome public speaking talents will help you with each situation in your life. It’ll give you confidence and the skills to handle anything that crops up as you go about your life, so start mastering public speaking. now.
