The name sounds reassuring. Everyone knows that anything toxic is bad for you. Plus these diets encourage you to eat natural foods and involve lots of water and veggies — all stuff you know is good for you and you hear about celebrities going on detox diets, and people who go into drug or alcohol rehabs are said to be detoxing, so shouldn’t a one of these plans be a good bet?
The reality is that the claims are often false. Like many other fad diets, detox diets can have harmful side effects. A toxin is something that is known to have harmful effects on the body. The poisons are from chemicals used to grow or prepare food, and even from the air that we breathe. We do have natural ways for us to remove these poisons that get into our systems. Our waste products are the best way for a person to remove the toxins.
Although detox diet theories have not been proven scientifically, the people who support them believe that toxins don’t always leave our bodies properly during the elimination of waste, but instead, they think toxins hang around in our digestive, lymph, and gastrointestinal systems as well as in our skin and hair causing problems like tiredness, headaches, and nausea.
Cleansing systems work by having a person remove the things that are putting the poisons into their body. Many cleansing systems are made to supplement the body’s natural process and help get rid of the poisons. But the truth is, the human body is designed to purify itself.
No cleansing program is the same. For some of the plans, a person will stop eating entirely. A person gives up food for a couple of days. Then they gradually reintroduce certain foods into the diet. There are also procedures that a person can do that will assist in the cleansing. Another option that is available for people to use along with a diet is the use of supplements to assist with the cleansing.
Another common cleansing program will someone follow a plan that includes a limited type of food for a period of time. Some of them claim that following their plan will help a person who has a goal of lose fat naturally while others promise a renewed feeling of energy and positive emotions, but the problem is that not all of these things will occur. When undertaking a cleansing system do not expect miracles. Knowledge about how a plan works is important. Before trying any program, do some research. It can help you save time and money.
Do not start one of these programs with out consulting your doctor. Make sure that your body is ready for the program you choose. The medical professional will be able to let you know if you are going to do something that will have serious side effects down the road.
There is a lot of things that many people have said are beneficial to undergoing one of these programs. If a person wants to feel healthier they do have other options than using a cleansing system. Not everyone believes that the results can be accomplished if you do not get rid of the unwanted chemicals. Research has not been able to prove that a person can speed up the cleansing process. Just because you get rid of the poisons does not mean that you will be any healthier than you were before.
