As the year comes to an end, many of us take the time to enjoy the festivities that surround us on a daily basis. They also bring lots of opportunities for socializing, eating, and drinking. Even the most disciplined people struggle with temptation during the holiday season. If a person wants to make the right choices during the holiday season they must come up with a plan.
To help you survive the seasonal parties without packing on the pounds without having to find a program that shows you how to lose weight fast at home in a week once the holidays are over you need to create a plan and what follows are some tips to help you navigate the diet landscape.
1. Cut back on the excesses. There is plenty of things a person can do during the holidays that do not involve eating unhealthy foods. Do not belly up to the dessert table and take a seat in front of all the high calorie choices. Cut back on you plates during the meals. Leave the party feeling satisfied, but not stuffed.

2. During the festivities consider what you are wearing and keep yourself busy. The right wardrobe is a good way for a person to control their ability to make the right choices. While you stand around looking posh in your holiday finery, hold a drink in hand so it won’t be so easy to grab food.
3. Skip some of the choices on the buffet. You do not have to try one of everything. Pick things out that are a special treat that you do not have on a regular basis when choosing your foods. Limit the amount of things that you must have. Find a seat and, slowly and mindfully, savor every mouthful.
4. Chewing gum is a great alternative. When you do not want to eat chew a piece of sugarless gum. This works well when you’re cooking or when you’re trying not to dive into the buffet.

5. Not eating is not good for you. Always eat normally on the day of a party. Many people believe that they will be okay at a party because it will be their only meal of the day but this does not work. The best diet plans include small meals during the day and small healthy snacks in between.

6. The first thing to do at a festivity is not to eat. When you arrive at the party, grab a sparkling water with a twist, and wait at least 30 minutes before eating. Taking your time will help you to find out what choices are available for you and allow you to think clearly while you make your choices. If you prepare yourself by giving yourself some time you are more likely to make the right choices.

7. Skip the liquor. Liquor is very fattening. Combining alcoholic drinks with non alcoholic drinks can lower your total caloric intake substantially and avoiding alcohol completely could mean that you will not be looking for a some plan that tells you how to lose weight fast without exercise and pills when the parties over and done with.

8. Do not try the starters that are being passed around. Those foods are often unhealthy for a person. If you need a little nibble before the meal, go for the veggies, fruit, salsa, or a small handful of nuts.

9. Do not overfill your plate. Choose a smaller plate if possible and only put a couple of things on it at a time. If you are not satisfied go back to the buffet and try a couple of more things. One of the secrets to any diet is portion control and this is no different when you want to control what you eat during the holidays.
The Christmas season is not all about what you get to eat. There are plenty of other ways that a person can celebrate. It is about spending time with family and friends. When all the festivities are done, you will enjoy what you see in the mirror.
