Many people are under the mistaken belief that they can’t do anything to improve their memory. It is even accepted as inevitable that, over time, your memory is going to become even less dependable. In reality, not only can you keep the memory capacity you have, professionals and researchers in the field of memory have proven that your memory could be made stronger. Our focus in this report is to give you some simple ways to help you enhance your memory.

One particular strategy employed by all memory experts is to use association when you’re trying to remember something. This could entail generating images in your head to help you remember something. The visual associations you make may be totally silly. Here’s an example of one such visual association I was taught when I was learning Arabic: “the Arabic word for DUCK is BOTTAH (phonetic spelling). Picture in your head a duck covered with butter for ten seconds, as clearly as you can.” Now, each time I want to say duck in Arabic, that image comes to mind and I remember the word! And the secret to making this technique actually effective is to make your visual as odd and unique as you possibly can. This is perfect for recalling names. When someone is introduced to you the very first time, quickly associate their name with a unique visual image. Then, once you see or think of that person, the image is going to help you recall his or her name.

When you want to remember something, repeat it to yourself frequently. You may already know this, because it is only common sense, but it is one of the most rudimentary steps you can take when it’s crucial to be able to recall something. Particularly if you are a visual learner, it’s wise to write out what you are trying to memorize and then look at the paper every once in awhile throughout your day. This is exactly why flash cards are a highly effective tool for learning anything that calls for memorization, such as a whole new language. You actually must make the mental effort to repeat the information to yourself if you want to remember it. You don’t need to do this for a long period, but you need to do it consistently. Imagine, for example, you want to remember the password for your ATM card but, of course, they advise you not to write it on paper. Simply repeat the number one or more times a day and it won’t be long before it’s second nature. Repetition is a key principle no matter what it is you’re trying to remember.

How your brain is functioning has a great impact on your ability to remember what you’re reading or studying. Just by breathing more deeply and slowly, you can put yourself in a more relaxed state that will enhance your memory. There have been music tracks created specifically to put your mind into the right brain wave pattern that promotes enhanced learning. These tracks were used with students in teaching situations and the successful outcomes have been well documented. Most music that relaxes you is great for this purpose. You might pick classical music, new wave music, or some of the Reiki soundtracks you can find on YouTube. Nonetheless, there’s also music and software programs that use techniques such as binaural beats that put your brain in an optimal state for learning. Or you can simply concentrate on breathing deeply, when you’re trying to absorb new information. Having good posture is also helpful, as when you’re slumping it’s more difficult to stay alert and this can make it harder to remember anything.

So, if you want to make your memory stronger – and who doesn’t need to? – or if your memory is lagging and you want to sharpen it again, follow the tips we’ve mentioned previously, as they are among the best ways to reach this goal These tips are quite valuable, but merely reading about them one time will not do you a bit of good. You should consistently apply them in order for them to work for you. Something else – if you make a conscious intention to improve your memory, it will go a long way towards ensuring your success, as you will be even more determined to apply yourself when you are studying or reading something that you want to retain.

The scope of what people experience with improve memory and in terms of numbers of people is pretty impressive. But just avoid the thought that something is lacking in you if you were caught off guard when this arrived on your doorstep.

Just learn what you can about it, and then try not to make too many assumptions about anything. We are much more reactive to things because we tend to wait until it is happening, and there is less thought about preventing something. It certainly does seem that mobilizing to deal with it comes about only after the fact. Be that as it may, there is never anything wrong with just being informed and taking whatever measures that are necessary or represent common sense.
